Harvest for Hope 5k Walk/Run
Walk, run, skip or jump! Bring your kids or your neighbors to our new venue: Oro Valley Marketplace’s multi-use path on Saturday October 11th, 2014, 5:00pm sharp for the ninth Annual Harvest for Hope 5k Walk/Run. Harvest for Hope is a community event designed to bring hope to those who struggle to feed their families.
We’ve been “uprooted” by construction!
For those of you who have participated in the past, you’ll notice we have a new location again this year. We’d like to thank Oro Valley Marketplace for jumping in and allowing us use of their multi-use path so we can still hold the event! This is a very easy and accessible path with stunning views of the Santa Catalina Mountains! We cant promise no rain but we do promise a beautiful view!
Giving back to those in need
It is hard to believe, but in our own community many people go to bed hungry at night. The Harvest for Hope 5k brings our community together to supply many families with the food they desperately need.
Participants walking or running this event do not pay an entry fee — we just ask that they bring a bag of non-perishable food that is donated to IMPACT of Southern Arizona, ( formerly Catalina Community Services Food Bank) and distributed to needy families. All participants will receive a finisher’s medal and the first 500 people to register will receive a t-shirt and be entered in to a raffle held immediately following the 5k.
We have raised more than 23,000 pounds of food since Harvest for Hope started. This year we hope to raise a bounty of food donations, as the food bank is in even greater need. The IMPACT’s food bank provides emergency food assistance to 40% more families than last year.
